West Los Angeles Residence

The residence originally was a 1930’s traditional tract house with a 1990’s modern addition to the back of the house. The current owners were taken primarily by the site, a hillside with four level platforms stepping down the hill. The couple, with school age children, wanted the addition and remodel to be more family friendly, energy efficient, integrated with the site and stylistically more uniform between the front and back of the house. This project was included in the 2010 AIA/LA Design Awards Program exhibition.
